About this owner's manual

This bicycle manual and this Welcome section provide information about the use and the ownership of your new bicycle.

Viewing the manual on your web browser

The pages appear in your computer's web browser, the software your computer uses to view internet web pages: Internet Explorer, Safari, Netscape, Opera, etc.

Frames

The browser window is split into two "frames," or columns (Figure 1).  The left frame provides navigation, a way to get around in the manual.  The right frame is where the reading material is displayed- you are reading it now.

Chapters

The manual is divided into three major chapters. The chapters are shown as "Books." When you click on a Book, pages or "Topics" appear. Topics are denoted by the "question mark" icon. If you click a Topic icon, the topic opens for you to read.

Links

In many of the topics, you will see blue underlined text. These are Links, and they work just like when you are viewing pages on the Internet; click a Link and you will go to a new page.

Most of the links take you to pages within the manual, but some links require that your computer is connected to the internet. These internet links replace the manual page on the right with an actual internet web page, but leave the manual's left-hand navigation frame. To return to the manual, click on your web browser's Back button, or click a Topic in the left-hand frame

Other Ways to Find Information in This Manual

At the bottom of every page, you'll find either a link to the next suggested page for reading or a grey button titled "Related topics." The related topics provide additional information, or take you to some of the pages that apply to the information that you just read.

Other ways to find what you want to read

In the bicycle manual, at the top left of the window (Figure 1) you will see three buttons that offer different ways to find information:

· Contents shows the books and topics, much like a table of contents

· Index lists keywords

· Search shows a list of all words

Explanation of Special Symbols

The safety alert symbol is used to alert you to potential personal injury hazards. Obey all safety messages that follow this symbol to avoid possible injury or death. Caution indicates a potentially hazardous situation or unsafe practice which, if not avoided, may result in minor or moderate injury. Warning indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided, could result in death or serious injury.

Larger Text

As with any web page, your browser can change the size of the text on pages to make it easier for you to read. The  method for changing text size is different in different browsers, but here are several methods for you to try:

· Click on the "Increase font size" button

· From the pull-down menu, select View>Text Zoom

· From the pull-down menu, select View>Make Text Bigger

Printing

For your convenience, you can print pages from this manual. Depending on which browser you use, you may be offered a printing choice similar to "Print Current Frame." If your computer offers you this choice, make sure you have placed the cursor on the frame you want to print; otherwise you might print only the left frame, the navigation column.
